The Apache Tribe

About the Apache

The Apache Indians were much different from most Natives at that time, Apaches were known to move around a lot and not settle in just one spot, this is called being nomadic. The regions they usually stayed and traveled within are now known as Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. The Apache tribe was known to be aggressive and powerful when it came to battle, they were called fierce warriors in the 1800’s. When many natives surrendered to the American troops during the Apache war, a large number of members stayed true to their nomadic ways and denied confinement.

The Apache’s believe that there are powers that represent the good and evil, these powers can also be used for individual use as well. The most important is “life giver”, usually associated with the sun which they called “Changing Woman”. She was believed to be the source of eternal youth and life, the changing woman also had children. They were twins that the “Slayer of Monster” and “Child of Water”.
